After dropping their free release There Goes The Neighborhood a couple weeks back, Seattle’s Fearce & BeanOne (of Dyme Def) waste no time in getting new material to the masses, as the duo drops the visuals for their new song “I Want It All.” Shot and edited by BeanOne, the video depicts Fearce on his BMX, cruising around various Seattle neighborhood’s as he divulges his version of the American dream. “I’m not asking for much, just a little fame/ what’s wrong with wanting the crowd to scream your name/ what’s wrong with wanting a big house, a swimming pool full of money for whenever there’s a big drought” …absolutely nothing.
“After spending time just searching for music outside the US, I luckily landed on some of the most influential, unique and most developed sound that has been out for quite some time. The sound I speak about is Brazil’s own, baile funk or what they call it, “funk carioca”. This mixtape is more of a sound study of baile funk. I felt this sound is still somewhat untouched in some music scenes. I wanted to give my interpretation of the music, and was also curious of how baile funk’s distinct loops and provoking sounds would sound layer under my ideas. This EP is loud and real.
The name Da Rocinha simply means, in Brazilian Portuguese, “Of Rocinha”. Rocinha is one of the most popular favelas in Brazil, which is located in Rio De Janeiro. Rocinha pretty much birth the baile funk sound and what I want to show is how Rocinha influenced me.” -Sango
14KT is blessed and he knows it. In the video for his track “Blessed”, the Ypsilanti producer takes the viewer on a tour of his life, highlighting key aspects that make it worth living.
KT takes us into his home life to see his family, he shows us his studio and we tag along as he goes digging at Encore Recordings in neighboring Ann Arbor. The magic is in the details: being in the kitchen with moms, the genuine daps exchanged with the crew in the studio and geeking out with Buff1 over a Mongo Santamaria vinyl at the record shop
KT says, “Blessed was basically all shot on a random Sunday. Andy (film director) and I just grabbed the camera and press record. Most of the video wasn’t planned. I wanted to give everyone a mini-photo album of candid “normal” moments that I get to experience daily. As “normal” as these things may look, many people don’t get the opportunity to experience what many may consider a “normal” life. Hence the title, Blessed. “
There’s a part towards the end of the video where KT is outside while it snows, alone and visibly elated. There is often an underlying theme of faith in KT’s work and “Blessed” is no different. It’s not explicit, but one can infer KT’s gratitude for a life filled with family, friends and music, truly a blessing.
