Here is a very unusual project: an album of electronic covers of a recent hip hop album: Paul White’s “Rapping With Paul White”. Henry Keen aka The Room Below took inspiration from the original songs, replaying everything on drum machines and synths, and writing interludes of his own to give the record a unique flavour: a heavy analogue electronics rap record with not a sample in sight

Astro Nautico x Day Tripper – 7 by 7

An experiment in cultural exchange and sampling, respective music collectives Astro Nautico and INNIT/Day Tripper Records have collaborated on a transpacific project which finds 7 members of Astro Nautico sampling Kurosawa’s “The Seven Samurai” to create a track and conversely, 7 members of Japan-based INNIT flipping sounds found in the westernized version of the same film, “The Magnificent Seven”.
