Mike Beatz – Heaven video

Mike Beatz – Heaven (Official Video)

Mike Beatz is a Jamaican hip-hop artist, producer and writer and his production resume includes T-Pain’s “Reborn”, Capone N Noreaga’s “Bring It Here”, Trina’s “Rich Girl” and many more. In 2009, he stared a side project (Wizard Sleeve) with a close friend and frequent collaborator Lex One and one of their first releases “Me Plus You” released on Southern Fried Records (owned by fatboy slim) went on to be re-released on Ministry Of Sound as the smash hit “Riverside (Let’s Go)” in 2010. “Riverside” went on to sell over 96,000 copies in its first week topping the iTunes sales charts and landing #1 on the charts. Due to this success, they were able to tour for two-years, building a strong international fan base and during that period of time we were blessed enough to work with top tier artists such as: Deadmau5, Diplo & Switch (Major Lazer), Dev, Tinie Tempah, Sway, S.A.S, Professor Green & others.

In 2011 while on tour overseas with Wizard Sleeve, Mike Beatz released an independent solo-LP entitled Boom Bap with Norwegian producer Adonis. The solo-project was an ode to the classic sound and featured guest appearances from Guilty Simpson, Royce Da 5’9, AZ, Termanology, Skyzoo, Sha Stimuli & Wrekonize.

Mike Beatz is back and is releasing a new music video for his self produced track “Heaven.” Shot in the everglades of Florida, Beatz teams up with director Noel Rosado on this eerie cinematic visual.

Substantial – See Hear video

Substantial – See Hear

Baltimore MC Substantial jumped back into the scene with this fall’s Home Is Where The Art Is, a personal and powerful testament to Stan B. Robinson’s development as a man and MC. Fans and critics seem to concur. To keep the momentum going on this fantastic LP, Substantial and Mello Music Group drop the uplifting video for “See Hear.”

The video, directed by Ariel “Rel” Nuñez, opens up with a local elder speaking on Baltimore’s history, more specifically how the city experienced a stark decline after the Disco era undoubtedly due to the recession and crack epidemic of the early 80’s. Sub picks up the gentleman’s baton and takes us on a tour of B-more, exposing us to the good and not-so-good. Still, throughout everything Substantial looks optimistically to the future. Don’t think Sub sees everything through rosy glasses, he acknowledges challenges and divisions within the city but lets us know he’s still invested in the place and the people because “that’s real unity, remembering it starts with you!”

Produced by Algorythm of The Stuyvesants

In an age where many MC’s are either jaded or out of touch, it’s refreshing to hear (and see) someone so focused on the future!
