Uptown XO – “Petey Greene (feat. AB The Pro)”
Hip-Hop at it’s best is more than entertainment — it is political. Enter Petey Greene: 70’s & 80’s DC radio host turned television celebrity, who made his mark discussing racism, poverty, drugs, and life in America with unparalleled candor. Fast forward 30 years and much of rap has lost its edge, much of its political ambition.
Bringing it back, is Diamond District emcee Uptown XO on the newest cut, Petey Greene feat. AB The Pro (and directed by 2Cams), from his soon to be released mixtape “The Color Grey” (10/1). The Washingtonian rapper uses his platform to explore the Chicago School Teachers Strike, the judicial system and institutionalization, and racism in general. Enjoy the new video, look out for the mixtape, and educate yourself for the action.
“The Schools Are Closed, but The Prisons Are Open”
Produced by AB The Pro; directed by 2Cams.

Substantial “Release Party & Mini-Doc”
Late this summer, Substantial and Mello Music Group released Home Is Where The Art Is, an uncompromisingly raw and powerful collection of positive, forward-thinking hip-hop that Oddisee executive produced. The message has connected and is well received; the album has alre ady garnered attention from places like VIBE and Ebony.
Substantial and MMG are proud to present a mini-documentary created by the good folks of House Studio. On August 23, 2012, filmmaker, Simon Kim followed Substantial as he prepared to introduce his 3rd solo album, ‘Home Is Where The Art Is’ at a live show unlike any other. The ‘Home Is Where The Art Is Album Release Event’ took place at LIV Nightclub in Washington, DC and featured performances & DJ sets by some of the DMV’s best Hip Hop acts, such as Oddisee, yU, Uptown XO, Gods’Illa, Lyriciss, Roddy Rod & others! Hosted by Grap Luva (cousin to the late great Heavy D) the event included live graffiti art by Rei21 and showcased his work along with pieces by Demont Peekaso. Throw in a Beatdown Showcase with J $crilla, Kaimbr, & Grussle plus DJ sets by DJ RBI, Roddy & DJ Jav and what you have is one unforgettable night. Thankfully, it was all captured on film for world to see.
